Newly opened in December 2015, Mr. Taka Ramen is Tokyo chef Takatoshi Nagara's first restaurant in New York City.
I ordered the spicy tonkotsu ramen. A small pile of delicious ground pork in addition to the traditional slice of pork belly is a nice touch. The miso broth was exceptionally well balanced and all of the ingredients were sensationally fresh. Full disclosure: I am a sucker for anything topped with delicate threads of saffron.
It was a cold and rainy night when I saddled up to the bar at Mr. Taka, so I was primed for a warm meal. I watched while other weary New Yorkers arrived and shook themselves dry, also seeking respite from the weather. Everyone at Mr. Taka was warmly greeted, promptly seated, and kindly treated to a tasty meal. :) I also particularly enjoyed the view of the spotless kitchen.
Mr. Taka is an impressive NY debut.
