The Armory Show 2016

All of NYC was "arting" this weekend with multiple shows and festivals all over the city.

I made it out to see a lot of incredible work this weekend, including shows by: Independent, Spring/Break, art on paper, and the rarely viewable Hort Family Collection.

This edition of #GallerySaturdays focuses on the main event of Armory Art Week: The Armory Show.

As usual, there was a massive amount of ground to cover at the show this year. Galleries representing the top names in modern and contemporary art were all present and accounted for. I always love seeing work by Andy Warhol, Ed Ruscha, Keith Haring, and The Bechers.

A really charming feature in the modern section of the show this year was a recreation of Joan Miró's studio by Galeria Mayoral:

On the contemporary pier, highlights included work by Patrick Jacobs, Francisco Vidal, Kudzani Chiurai, and Ivan Navarro.

There was also a live drawing performance that unfolded over the course of the fair including artist Karo Akpokiere:

Architecture firm Bade Stageberg Cox made sure that the entire show was well laid out and festival food really upped its game this year with booths by Mile End Delicatessen on the main pier and a full-service restaurant and cafe provided by Hotel Americano in the VIP room:

Until next year!
