April Bloomfield has done it again. The two-time Michelin star chef of The Spotted Pig, The Breslin, The John Dory, and Salvation Taco has a new Salvation and this time it's dedicated to burgers.
Fans of April already know that she is a burger expert. The chargrilled lamb burger at The Breslin is unlike anything you will ever eat and it honestly brings tears to my eyes every time I have one. At Salvation Burger, I ordered the Classic and although it did not evoke tears, it was still a damn fine burger.
How do you make something as common as a burger unique and special? At Salvation it starts with the meat, which is butchered daily in-house. The sesame seed buns are also baked on the premises and the cheddar cheese... yup: that's cultured fresh at the restaurant too.
An adorable clay pot of ketchup is on each table, but with a burger this unique you won't want to touch it. I took a small dab just for fun and assumed that it too was a Bloomfield concotion made in the kitchen. "Nope," my waiter said. "It's Heinz."
This place is brand new, so try to go during off-peak hours and be prepared to indulge.
